That’s why having a professional removals team on your side is so valuable, especially in a busy city like London! So, if you’re looking for an experienced London removals company you can trust, look no further than Kiwi Movers.

With a team of fit, friendly and fully-insured movers, along with a fleet of top-of-the-line bright green removal vans, we’re here to do all the hard work and heavy lifting for you while making your house move as easy, efficient and straightforward as possible.

With Kiwi Movers, your precious belongings are in safe hands. Our movers are trained to handle your items with care and respect while ensuring that your stuff remains safe and secure in transit. We also offer a range of boxes, packing materials and crates, or you can let us do the packing for you with our professional packing service.

While our mission is to provide the highest quality moving service with a warm and welcoming approach, we don’t charge “London prices” for what we do. Our home removals service is fairly and reasonably priced because, let’s be honest, moving house is expensive enough as it is!

Extensive local knowledge of London

No matter where in the city you live, moving home in London can be a tricky prospect. Between its busy roads and congested traffic, tight parking and a year-round calendar of major events, there are lots of factors to contend with when planning a house move. Luckily for you, we know London like the back of our hand.

Despite hailing from New Zealand (as you might have guessed from our name!), we’ve called London home for over 10 years and our headquarters are based in Wandsworth. Over the last decade, we’ve moved many happy customers in, around and out of London, from individuals and couples moving into a city centre flat to families relocating to their dream suburban home.

With intimate knowledge of the city’s many boroughs and a diligent approach to planning, we know how to carry out a smooth, swift and stress-free house move in London.

Worried your furniture is too difficult to move? Don’t sweat it

In addition to our team of fit, strong and capable movers, we have a host of removals equipment that allows us to move those large, heavy or awkwardly-shaped pieces of furniture, even when faced with a narrow hallway or multiple flights of stairs. Got a baby grand piano that needs moving into a third-floor room? Our hoist hire will make light work of that.

Over 10 years of experience — We’ve been moving people in and around London, as well as the rest of the UK, for 13 years (and counting!). Our experience extends far beyond your typical removals company, though. Our team comes from a wide variety of backgrounds and industries, including project management, engineering and construction management, making us a truly unique and dynamic outfit.

Excellent reputation — Since our humble beginnings in 2007, we’ve developed a proud reputation as one of the most reliable, friendly and forward-thinking removals companies in London. Don’t take our word for it, though — just take a look at some of the kind words our wonderful customers have to say about us!

Positive, problem-solving mentality — At Kiwi Movers, we strive to embody the “Number 8 wire” attitude, a term in New Zealand used to describe the unique ingenuity of Kiwis. So whatever obstacle that may crop up during your house move, we love nothing more than putting our heads together and finding a solution.

Great prices — We don’t believe that a safe pair of hands should cost you an arm and a leg, which is why our services come at fair and competitive prices.

Flexible approach — We work around you. Simply arrange a convenient time for us to carry out your house move that suits your schedule. If you’re out of town, we can even move your belongings in your absence — many of our customers are happy for us to do this.

Ethical and sustainableWe’re passionate about operating in the most ethical and sustainable way possible, because that’s how we get the best results for our customers, our team and the environment. All of our drivers are provided with green training to reduce fuel consumption and carbon emission while we’re committed to following a reduce-reuse-recycle policy both in our work and with our suppliers and subcontractors.

What type of removal is best for your home?

We will certainly never be shy about what a great city London is; after all, it lured our group of Kiwis halfway across the world to join in the fun! However, the huge variety of properties in the UK’s capital means that there’s no single, one-size-fits-all removal solution for this market.

Perhaps, like the New Zealand-born members of our team, you are about to move to London from elsewhere and, for this reason, you have quite a long journey on your hands. Alternatively, you might already live in London and just want to relocate from one property to another.

If you are moving as part of a large family, you might have snapped up a large mansion to accommodate a growing brood. On the other hand, if you are an individual, or set to move in with a partner, you might be happy with a small apartment.

Your intended move could even be as simple as switching to a different floor of a London apartment block where you already reside. In a situation like this, you might not even need your possessions to be transported in a van – unless you would like those possessions to be temporarily stored off-site.

When you contact us asking for help with your house move, we will endeavour to establish exactly what the move will entail and, therefore, what type of removal service we will need to provide to facilitate your relocation. You might only need something modest, like a man and van service.

A ‘man and van’ service is literally what it sounds like: a removal service where you are provided with a man and his van. This is ideal for those situations where hiring a full team of professional movers would feel like overkill – especially as it would be more expensive, too.

However, if you have many items that need shifting, we can provide all of the removal staff, vehicles, and even packaging that is required. While you would be free to pack the items yourself if you prefer, you can always assign us this task – as well as that of unpacking the items once we have transported them to their intended new home in London.

Just let us know what you need, and we will take your concerns into close consideration as we prepare a tailored removal service designed to cater for you.

Can Kiwi Movers store my items whilst I move?

Some people trying to move home can end up in a bit of a “no man’s land” where they need to get items out of the old home but aren’t quite ready to get them into the new home – for example, because the moving-out date is not quite the same as the previously agreed moving-in one.

Alternatively, while the home from which you are moving might have previously been decked out with your furniture, you could now be moving into a residential property that already has its furniture – for example, because it is fully furnished or semi-furnished rental property.

Naturally, that situation would leave you with two separate sets of furniture and perhaps wondering where, for the time being, you are supposed to put the old items. However, when your home move is in any kind of awkward transitional phase like this, our secure storage solutions can help.

In various locations, including central and west London, Surrey, and Kent, we have an array of conveniently sited storage facilities. All of them are secured by CCTV and accessible on a 24/7 basis. Overall, we have over 2,000 storage units in a wide range of sizes to suit a wide range of items.

We let our customers choose between self-storage and long-term storage solutions. Our facilities for the former are in Battersea, Chelsea, Fulham, Twickenham, Richmond, Wandsworth, and West Molesey. They are open 7 days a week to allow you to access your items there as and when you need to.

As for long-term storage, we offer warehouses and containers in London. If you only need a short-term storage service in the capital, because, for example, you will be moving from one flat to another in the same building, keep in mind that we offer a suitable ‘mini storage’ service.

However, once your items eventually come out of storage in preparation for being moved into their new home, you will want them to be kept protected during transit. Rest assured that we will ensure this protection if you arrange for us to provide packaging for your belongings, as well as move them.

What packing materials will you need?

It has been estimated that the average UK home has about £35,000 of contents. You could therefore understandably be eager to keep those contents safe and secure as they go from your old house to the new one – and the packing materials you choose for these items will be pivotal.

You should, however, be wary of using bin liners. This is because, once you have packed potentially very precious items into a bin liner and tied it up, you could later too easily mistake it for a rubbish bag and throw it out. You want your packing materials to look unmistakably like packing materials.

We would particularly urge you to use cardboard boxes, as these are not only better for the environment than bin liners, but are also more resilient and protective. Fortunately, from our team, you can easily order boxes of various sizes – and other essentials required to seal those boxes.

All of the boxes we supply are double-walled to reinforce their strength, not to mention made from recycled materials. This makes these boxes a double win for the environment, as you are unlikely to break them – or need to replace them – as early as you would comparatively “standard” boxes.

We advise that you pack particularly fragile and breakable items, like wine glasses and crystal ornaments, by wrapping them carefully in bubble wrap, securing them with strong adhesive tape and then putting them into the smallest box possible. We can provide the bubble wrap and tape.

Fragile items will be easier to carry – and thus keep safe – when placed in small boxes. However, much larger objects, such as sofas, are undoubtedly often the hardest to move safely, as the corners could too easily get scratched or inflict damage upon something else during the move.

The good news is that the strong adhesive tape and bubble wrap we have already mentioned can also be used to help protect these larger items, including while they are in transit. Our packaging supplies also include sofa covers and mattress covers – both single and king size mattress covers.

If you will need any breakable or fragile possessions transported over long distances, we strongly recommend that these are packaged in high-quality crating, which we can provide and tailor-make to your requirements. We line each of our wooden crates with thick cushioning and waterproof paper.

End of tenancy cleaning

If you will be moving out of a rental property, keep in mind that you shouldn’t just expect the landlord of your current home to clean up after you. As the tenant, you would be obligated to leave this home in a clean and tidy condition while you are in the process of relocating.

Otherwise, you might not get back your tenancy deposit – or at least not all of it. In a 2020 survey of 3,304 people whose tenancies had elapsed, 61% of the respondents said they had not been returned all of the money they had originally paid as a deposit.

The survey also revealed that insufficient cleaning was the main reason for deducted deposits. 80% of the respondents who had had deposit deductions reported that this had occurred for exactly that reason. Your landlord shouldn’t have to foot the bill for getting the property clean just because you didn’t do it yourself before you left.

For reasons like these, we offer an end of tenancy cleaning service to tenants throughout West London – including Putney, Fulham, Twickenham, and Wandsworth. We can clean a single room, multiple rooms or an entire property – and clean spaces including any or all of the following:

  • Kitchen
  • Living room
  • Lounge
  • Dining room
  • Bedroom
  • Bedroom
  • Bathroom

Our end of tenancy cleaning service is exhaustive, enabling us to get into every little nook and gap as we restore your soon-to-be-former home to its previous level of cleanliness from before you moved in. The various features of a home we can professionally clean include but are not limited to:

  • Carpets
  • Curtains
  • Windows
  • Oven
  • Lights

You should also endeavour not to leave any traces of the covid-19 virus in the property as you move out. Research suggests that the virus could linger on inanimate surfaces like metal, glass or plastic for as long as nine days – unless, of course, the surface is sanitised.

As it’s possible that someone preparing to move into the home could be highly vulnerable to covid-19 or not vaccinated against it, you should arrange for us to thoroughly disinfect the building – including its door handles, light switches, TV remotes and fridge door handles.

When you book our end of tenancy cleaning service, you can expect us to turn up at your property with a friendly smile and all of the cleaning solutions and equipment we need for the job. You can book flexible appointments with our expert cleaners, enabling us to work around your schedule.
